FIGHT CLUB - Immigrant song fan trailer

After seeing the new trailer for "The girl with the dragon tattoo" from David Fincher (of which i've been a fan since Alien 3), I've being stuck with that song in my head and wanted to make something out of it. Also, It's been a while I've being wanting to use an editiing software anew.

About the new GWTDT, I can't wait for that movie to come out, especially since i've loved the originals.
And it seemed only fitting to re-use its pulsating rythm with Fight Club from the same director (especially because of that distorted sound at the end, fitting with Tyler's speech. Fincher likes to distort images -check a Perfect Circle's Judith's music video- and always does so beautifully).

The song is Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant song" redone by Trent Reznor (known for the exquisite band Nine Inch Nails) with vocals from Karen O (also known for being the vocalist ot the Yeah Yeah Yeahs). I sure hope the full verion of this track will be featured on the GWTDT OST.

I loved doing this because it was a challenge both on storytelling and rythm.
And even though it's only my second attempt at edition, i hope you'll enjoy this (even half) as much as i did working on it.

Après avoir vu la nouvelle bande annonce de la nouvelle version de Millénium par David Fincher (dont je suis fan depuis Alien 3), j'ai eu cette chanson collée dans la tête et je voulais faire quelque chose avec. Qui plus est, cela faisait un moment que j'avais envie de me remettre au montage.

En parlant du nouveau Millénium, j'ai vraiment hâte que ça sorte, d'autant que je suis déjà fan de la première version audiovisuelle de la trilogie.
Ca m'a semblé logique d'utiliser le rythme patator de cette musique avec Fight Club du même réalisateur (principalement en raison du son saturé à la fin, qui collait avec le discours de Tyler Durden dans Fight Club. Fincher adore déformer les images - voir également le clip de Judith par A Perfect Circle - et il le fait magnifiquement).

Pour info, la chanson est une reprise de Immigrant Song des LEd Zepellin par Trent Reznor (connu pour avoir fondé les Nine Inch Nails) et Karen O (la chanteuse des Yeah Yeah Yeahs). J'espère que la version complète de la chanson sera sur la bande originale du film.

Je me suis vraiment amusé à bosser là-dessus car ça représentait un défi tant au niveau du rythme que de la façon de conter une histoire. Et bien que ce ne soit que la seconde fois que je monte quelque chose, j'espère que ça vous plaira ne serait-ce qu'un peu, perso j'ai vraiment pris mon pied à le faire.
